Fighting
for the Spirit Bone
This year familiar events return to
the class competitions and a new class will attempt to take the Spirit Bone. Can
the sophomores hold their title and earn the right to keep the Spirit Bone?
The first day of Homecoming starts out
with the classic task of the car push. Every year for the past decade this
event has headlined the homecoming activities, with it usually favoring the
bigger classes. This year it’s planned to be exactly the same as last year only
with new classes.
Another returning event is the “Minute
to Win It,” where the contestants attempt to complete small tasks faster than
the opposing classes. This usually takes place in the gym, and only two
students from each class can compete, making it, in most eyes, one of the less
entertaining days.
A new activity introduced this year is
the obstacle course. Voted upon by the student council, it managed to replace the
old event of the mattress race to make a new third day. Not much is known about
how it will be set up or how many students from each class can compete, but the
course will be built quite large.
The fan favorite, and most competitive
of all the activities, lies on Thursday, when the dodge ball tournament is
held. In this event every class plays each other in a full class match of
classic dodge ball. Usually the bigger classes win this, but you never know
what could happen.
Competition is fierce, and the upper
classmen have a lot on their shoulders. Every small win counts and no one knows
who can claim the Spirit Bone in this year’s Homecoming competitions.
